There is also a hint to indicate that many others have died on this mountain already. A distraught, grief stricken young girl is likely far more susceptible to these voices. Voices, which are to be ignored under any circumstances, lest you wish harm to befall you. If we pay attention and read the notice boards found throughout the game, we are warned that people can succumb to voices heard on the mountain. There is also evidence to indicate that Yui was not 100% in control of her actions. At this moment, she was truly vulnerable. Yui felt she had lost all reasons to go on living. Her first note found on Kuro’s grave explained how her father had died, her mother had suffered a mental breakdown, her dog had died, and Haru was leaving to move to another town. She had decided that she was going to try living even though she had lost everything, as evidenced by the second note she drops just before the cherry tree. In the final stages of the game we discover that Yui had second thoughts. It is her ghost that watches the fireworks with Haru. This scene certainly helps to indicate that Yui is already dead by this point. Haru too, obviously never hears anything either, hence why she falls to the ground in shock.
She simply appears standing outside a short while later. We never hear the front door to the house open. When Haru goes to meet Yui at Yuri’s house and rings the doorbell, there is for a while, no answer.
With that taken into account we can conclude that it is entirely possible for Yui to have watched the fireworks with Haru, even though she most likely died several hours before. The unnamed girl is seen walking with Poro one last time as they accept what happened and say goodbye to each other. The events at the end of Yomawari: Night Alone does establish that spirits can make themselves known when needed. While we don’t know for certain the timeline of these events, it is probably safe to assume they happen in chronological order. Third, Yui and Haru became separated on the way home from the fireworks.
